Today was a good day!

Don’t you just adore Sundays?! I certainly do. Some people cherish them as a day of rest, while others use them to accomplish tasks. This morning, I awoke with an entire to-do list in my mind. I had planned to attend church, get my nails and feet done, pick up dinner ingredients, and then head out for a birthday dinner. I was determined to make the most of my off day, and I succeeded in doing so. I even managed to catch up with my son over the phone, and that call filled my heart with warmth. It’s a unique feeling, the fuzzy emotions that come with being a mom to adult children in the military, stationed in a different state. It’s strange, one moment I’m filled with immense pride, and the next, I’m overwhelmed with a sense of longing. Missing him more than words would ever be able to describe, but I know that he’s doing what needs to be done- making an impact and serving our country proudly! That’s when I turn to God with all of my big feelings and bottled up emotions. So often I find myself in deep prayer thanking God for his steady hands in everything and then asking for his continuous love and protection over my children. As a mom I can’t help but declare Psalms 91 multiple times a day. There’s so many moving parts throughout each of our lives and daily schedules alone, it would be foolish of me to not pray for my children. I encourage you to do the same! Let us pray!

Dear God, it is in the name of Jesus we pray and declare peace of mind, prosperity and provision over our sons and daughters today, despite any of our short comings and moments of neglect as parents. We have loved them through the good and bad times, when we’ve had plenty to give and on days when there was nothing left at all. So Lord today we pray for our children as they continue to grow and evolve into whoever they are destined to become and all you have called them to be. Heavenly Father,

Today, I come before You with a grateful heart, lifting my young adult children into Your loving hands. Lord, thank You for the gift of their lives, for the journey You have brought them through, and for the beautiful future You have prepared for them. Even as they grow older and begin making decisions for themselves, remind me that they will always need Your wisdom, Your guidance, and Your protection.

Father, cover my children with Your divine protection wherever they go. Keep them safe from danger, improper influences, unhealthy relationships, and poor decisions that could lead them away from Your purpose for their lives. When they walk into unfamiliar places, be their covering. When they face difficult choices, be their wisdom. When they feel uncertain, be their peace and a lamp to their feet.

Lord, give them discernment to recognize what is good for them and the courage to walk away from anything that threatens their peace of mind, purpose, or future. Surround them with people who encourage their growth, respect their values, celebrate their gifts, and challenge them to become everything You have created them to be. Father, I pray for their minds. In a world filled with pressure, distractions, comparison, and uncertainty, guard their thoughts and protect their hearts. Remind them that their worth is not determined by their appearance, their accomplishments, their income, their relationships, or the opinions of others. Let them find their identity in YOU. I pray that you would order their steps. Open doors that align with Your will, and close any doors that would lead them away from their purpose. Give them favor in their education, careers, finances, friendships, and future families. Strengthen their sense of responsibility, patience, humility, discipline, and the importance of trusting Your perfect timing. When they make mistakes, give them the courage to learn and the humility to grow. When they experience disappointment, remind them that a setback is not the end of their story. When they feel overwhelmed, help them to know they do not have to carry every burden alone. May they always remember that they can turn to us as parents and family but most importantly they can always turn to You in prayer, even when they do not have all the answers. Father, help me as their mother, too. Teach me when to speak and when to be silent, when to offer advice and when to step back in faith. Help me release the fear that sometimes comes with watching my children become independent adults. Remind me that although I cannot walk every road with them, You can go places I cannot go, see things I cannot see, and protect them in ways I cannot reach. When I cannot find the words to guide them, let Your Spirit speak to their hearts. When I worry about their future, remind me to pray instead of panic, to trust instead of fear, and to surrender instead of trying to control every outcome. May my children grow into adults who love You, honor You, walk with integrity, show compassion to others, and use their gifts to make a difference in this world. Let them be bold enough to pursue their dreams, wise enough to recognize distractions, and faithful enough to trust You through every season. I declare that my children are not walking through life alone. May Your goodness and mercy follow them. May Your wisdom direct them. May Your peace sustain them. May Your favor surround them. And may Your purpose for their lives prevail.

In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray.

Amen
